Demy Sleep Options

posted Oct 14, 2009 11:32 AM by Unknown user   [ updated May 25, 2010 1:01 PM by Jenn Leathers ]

The Demy periodically goes into Sleep Mode to conserve battery life.  If your Demy is asleep, touch the LCD screen or press the Power Button for a response.

If you find your Demy is going to sleep while you're using it, you can adjust the Dim Time from the Options screen (we recommend selecting "Never" for your Dim Time.)

To navigate to your Options screen, press the More button on the bottom menu to load the Options button, then press the Options button to load the Options screen.

Tips for Syncing your Demy

posted Jun 24, 2009 3:03 PM by Unknown user   [ updated Feb 10, 2010 2:05 PM by Jenn Leathers ]

  • Wait until Demy has booted all the way to the Cookbooks screen before you connect it your computer and try to sync it.
  • Don't forget to press the silver Sync button when the software window says "Ready to sync."
  • Use your email address (rather than your Key Ingredient username) when prompted to sign in to the syncing software.
  • If you've already installed the appropriate software and synced your Demy successfully, and you get a "No Error" or "Error Finding Device" message, you might be connecting your Demy before the serial numbers have loaded (it usually takes about 30 seconds for the serial numbers to load).  To see if your serial numbers are loading:
    • disconnect your Demy from your computer
    • turn off your Demy (make sure you hold down the Power Button in the back for 3 seconds until it beeps)
    • restart your Demy
    • navigate to your Options screen (on bottom menu press More button to get to Options button, press the Options button)
    • on the lower right corner of your Options screen, there should be 3 strings of numbers
      • if the numbers are there, connect to your computer and restart the syncing software
      • if they are not there, or you still receive an error message, contact us at help@keyingredient.com

Removing the Protective Film from Your Demy

posted Jun 2, 2009 3:04 PM by Unknown user   [ updated Feb 10, 2010 11:41 AM by Jenn Leathers ]

If the touch function on your Demy is unresponsive, check to see if the factory installed protective film has been removed from the screen.  That film was not intended to remain on your Demy and can cause it to behave erratically.

To remove the film, pull back on the white tab in the upper left corner of your Demy's screen.  If the tab has come off, just use your fingernail to gently loosen a corner of the film and then peel back.

If you would like a protective cover for your Demy's screen, the Screen Protectors available at mydemy.com are custom made for use with the touch screen.

"Jigsawing" Images on Demy

If you scroll too quickly or choose a command more than once, before the Demy has a chance to respond, the photos might appear distorted for a second.  It's best to select an option on the touchscreen once and wait a second for the Demy to respond to your request.

Rebooting Demy for Windows Installation

posted May 15, 2009 11:28 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Dec 15, 2010 11:05 AM by Jenn Leathers ]

Sometimes you need to reboot your Demy if Windows can't find it.  Disconnect your Demy from your computer.  Turn your Demy off (press the grey Power Button in the back for 3 seconds until it beeps).  The screen should have gone dark.  Press the Power Button again (it will beep and start loading up).  Wait until it loads the Cookbooks screen, then connect your Demy to your computer again.

Removing Pre-Installed Cookbooks

posted May 15, 2009 11:28 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Feb 9, 2010 1:24 PM by Jenn Leathers ]

You do not have to keep the preloaded recipes on your Demy.  While you cannot delete them yourself, we are happy to update your account on our servers.

If you would like the pre-installed cookbooks removed, send your request to help@keyingredient.com. Please include the address you used to set up your Key Ingredient account.

All of the preloaded recipes will be removed the next time you sync your Demy; however, if there were individual recipes you liked, you can still find them and add them to your collection.  Just log into your Key Ingredient account and use the Live Recipe Search bar at the top of the page.

Can't Find Demy (Windows XP)

posted May 11, 2009 8:37 AM by Jesse Lovelace   [ updated May 11, 2009 2:55 PM ]

Problem description:

After installing the Key Ingredient Demy software, the Key Ingredient application cannot find the Demy.

Resolution:
  1. Open the "Control Panel" by clicking the "Start" menu at the bottom left corner of your screen and selecting "Control Panel".
  2. We recommend clicking on the item labeled "Switch to Classic View" on the left column.
  3. Double click on the "System" icon.
  4. Click the tab labeled "Hardware", then click the button labeled "Device Manager".
  5. Under the item called "Ports (COM & LPT)" check for any items that have an exclamation mark or question mark.  If one does, double-click on it and select "Reinstall Driver."  Allow Windows to search for the driver and reinstall it.
